Taking the SMP jump this week in NYC with Jon G

Recommended Posts

I have been following this forum for a few months now and most of you guys have motivated me to pull the trigger.  I am 30 years old, NW4ish baldness and i've decided to take the step  :)  I have my first procedure early this week followed by session 2 exactly one week after.  I usually don't post as I can pretty lazy, but I feel obligated to here as I am expecting only the best results.  Can anyone give any advice for dealing with the pain during and after the session?  I've heard all sorts of pain levels and I have never had a tattoo so I don't know what to expect.  Also I am posting my current pictures and I will update with much more pictures before and after each session frequently.  Wish me luck and thank you guys.

Right on dude, Jon G is one of the best, he will take care of you. I think the smp is going to work great on you.

Can anyone give any advice for dealing with the pain during and after the session?

The pain varies for everyone, so if it's bad you'll just have to grit through it haha.  There isn't any pain after the session, it stops as soon as they lift the needle... so if it's too bad just take a lot of breaks.  I tried various pain pills and it didnt have much of an effect for me... some people recommend a little alcohol, but i never tried that.  You'll be ok even if you dont use anything, though.

So I ended up having my first session this morning with Dan the man in NYC.  All I can tell you is that I slept for 3 hours, hit the road at 3 am to drive 250 miles, get the procedure, and to drive back home.  It has been a long day and the first thing I want to do is sleep, but I feel obligated to comment on the excellence of these guys.  Sorry if my story is all over the place, but I am in zombie mode right now.

We started at 9 am, I meet Dan in the front, fill out the questionnaire, and head to the drawing boards.  As we were walking in, I asked Dan if his head was SMP as the head looked like a naturally buzzed head.  The answer was yes it was, and I tell you it was the first SMP that I had seen.  First he asked me every question in detail so he can get an idea of EXACTLY what I want.  He draws out the hairline that I want, and gets the colors that I desired and he gets right to work.  He went for a good 3.5 hours, took his time, and made sure the first session was as perfect as can be.  He took no short cuts, and I can tell you he prides his entire staff saying they are all super capable.  I was worried about the pain as I have never had a tattoo and I just hate needles.  That was the last thing to worry about as the pain wasn't anything rough, more nuisance feelings around the crown and temples.  3.5 hours honestly felt like an hour.  I felt very comfortable with these guys.

I have attached photos of during the session and pictures from this evening.  No pain, just some redness, especially in the front.  No fading, even though the bathroom pictures look like there is at the temples, it is just the light reflection off the redness.  I will take pictures over the next few days and update.

A final note for the night.  The reasons why I chose Hishairclinic over anything else:
1) Staff isn't afraid to rock the look
2) The company has an open forum. If I wanted to trash talk, you could see it here, but they know they have a top notch product.
3) They stand behind their work
and finally I can tell you from observing today, 4) These guys care deeply about their work and you see that.

Crossing my fingers for awesome results.

Again, I am only writing this because I feel obligated.  You guys posted all the positives in this forum to motivate me so I am returning the favor for others.  Before today, I did not know anyone who had SMP and I have never seen a real SMP.  I have heard horror stories about other places, but this place will not give you the chance to say anything bad about them.  Take the dive and you will not regret it.

I had first session Friday morning and now it is Monday morning.  Redness almost gone.  2 more days I will be able to shower and shave it, can't wait.  Thursday going in for session 2.  Thinking of dropping the temples a little bit to get less of a V line but not completely flat.  Love the results so far.  Now just to tweak a bit more to my liking and density.

An update.  Day 5, shaved, moisturized, and this is the result of session 1.  Pretty pleased.  Can't wait for the final result as density will be the primary focus.  Session 2 tomorrow.  Will keep you guys posted.

Ok so for an update, I didn't want to be a troll and upload pictures daily.  I had my 2nd session Thursday morning with Jon G who is a master at this.  Here we are Monday and I am posting what it looks like 4 days after session 2.  Can't wait for session 3 as these guys are simply awesome.  I am getting compliments everywhere I go and not even my family knows.  I can tell you that this has been the best decision I have made.  I was nervous at first because you hear of some true horror stories, ink turning blue, fading, etc.  These guys know what they are doing and there is a reason why they break you up in to 3 sessions.  Maybe a bit more money from butchers, but they stand behind their product and you will not regret one second of this.  If you are debating SMP, do yourself a favor and don't, take the dive and you will never regret being bald again.

A little info about my 2nd session.  Softened the V hair line, and added a lot more density especially around the horse shoe.  So far it is perfect to my liking and could probably get away with 2 sessions, but I am going to go for session 3 to try and add more thickness.  Thank you guys for posting your results.  Keep in mind I never post in forums anywhere, but I really feel obligated because it was the posters here that pushed me to dive.

Thanks for sharing your experience! The session two pictures look great. I think the hairline really suites you, and I like the alterations you made to it during the first and second treatments. How did you decide on the v shape hairline? Was that how your original hairline looked? I agree that a 3rd will be necessary to add a bit more density to the back. but its starting to come together. I've been asking this a lot around the forum a lot so I figured I'd ask you as well, what made you decide not to do the side profiles, have you considered doing them at any point in the future? Not saying you need them or anything, I think its looking natural as is, just wondering.

The V is a similar hairline to what I used to have.  I receded the hairline just a little bit from my original as it is easy to add on, but difficult to remove.  I am not sure what you mean but side profile, but I did pretty much my entire top.

By side profiles, I mean the hair on the sides of your head that would extend out into your face, above the ears, by the eyebrows. It seems like half of the people on this forum end up filling in that area with pigment, half the people don't. I've seen great example either way. I'm considering doing the treatment just on the top of my head like you, or possibly doing the top as well as side profiles. Trying to get some feedback on how others came to the conclusion on weather or not to get them.
