Hi All- firstly I would just like to say thank u to everyone who contributes to this forum, it has made a huge difference to me, in giving me the confidence to finally going ahead with MHT ( don't underestimate that guy's!).
Time for a change and a new me and future

I thought it only fair that I share my story to help other people in a similar situation to myself, I have never written on a forum before, so bare with me.I am 41 years of age and had a HT 10 years ago which has been one of my regrets for years, I paid nearly 5K and gained very little hair for it. I am a NW 7 and for the last 9 years have worn a unit ( a glued on wig to be blunt) whilst this has made me feel better for years, I have always worried about people noticing it or it coming off etc.I am one of the lucky ones, as when I had my consultation with Ian, he said it was the best he had seen and it was undetectable. Whilst I do believe it generally looks natural, there are many downsides, like being conscious swimming, someone sat directly behind you, having to tap your head regularly, having a trim every 2 weeks and a the unit cleaned and put back on every 4 weeks. I am also lucky that my strip scar is clean and I have no plug scars. My first treatment is next Wednesday 22nd Feb in Birmingham and treatment 2 and 3 are booked in the following 2 Wednesdays, then I go ski-ing the week after to really feel what it's like with a bald head.I have just left a business that I have worked for the last 17 years with, so I feel it's a perfect time to go for it as I will not be starting a new role till May, so I just have to get the family and friends used to it. I am nervous, but I feel more excited about it than nervous. Reading the forum has helped me understand that the 1st treatment is a base layer and not to panic after that as treatment 2 is we're the magic happens. I have already bought an R91 shaver and L'oreal pure& Matte to help with shiny head syndrome. I have also bought an I-stubble Babyliss stubble trimmer which is great to get the look with my MHT.This forum becomes a huge part of your life as i am sure it has for alot of u reading this when you are thinking of or preparing for the treatment. One thing I have learnt is that we are not on this planet for long and when this treatment makes me enjoy it even more, it will be money well spent!Bring on next Wednesday - hope this was useful?Had my first treatment 22nd Feb, 2nd was 29th Feb and final one is 7th March 2012Posted 2 months ago #

Great introductory post, Sherwood. I am excited to read you're story about replacing your unit with MHT. It really will be a "new start" for you when your treatment is finished and you go and start your new job come May.
Best wishes.

i am in a similar boat ....without the system, but wearing my hair long enough to cover ht scar
im excited hopeful and cautious ...i hope also to fit the treatment around a change of jobsbest of luck..keep us updatedlooking to get ht scar concealed...not booked yetPosted 2 months ago # -
I to have my first treatment next wed, i am slightly nervous, and i hate it when people look at my head/hairline now so i hope to shrug those looks off after 3 treatments, slightly nervous about havin the first treatment then goin back to work and my staff noticing a change, even tho my hair is shaved to a 1 atm i think with a zero clipper all over it will be a change in itself so with the thinning bits filled in with a better( not straight across) hair line in hopefully it will enhance rather than not. Great reading about others in the same position.

Hi All- it is the day before my first treatment and I have to say, considering my first post above, I have gone through an emotional roller coaster over the last 24hours.
Last night was my leaving do from work, my plan was to take my unit off last night when I got home to give my head some breathing space before my treatment, my wife was then going to shave it for megoths as going to get home late, so i text my wife that I would remove the unit and we would get up early the next day to shave it off.I took my unit off and wiped the glue away and put a beanie hat on and went to bed. I didn't sleep a wink last night worrying about it and also my wife seeing me without the unit on for the first time. I hated the way I looked without the unit and was embarrassed for my wife to see me this wayI then partially shaved my hair off myself and hated every second of it knowing I had past the point of no return. I have shed a few tears this morning for the first time in years. The hardest thing is knowing I will have a skin head for the rest of my life and explaining to people why I have shaved my hair off.I am a really strong person, but this has really got to me and I now have to pray that I will look better after my first treatment tomorrow. Thanks for reading, I will keep my post updated and get some pictures put on.Posted 2 months ago # -

Hi David
When I phoned a few weeks back, I was told Manchester was not open yet. I thought it was a bit strange as there was a video of the opening. I took the 3 dates In Birmingham because they fitted in around me not doing much and I go away 4 days after my last treatment ski-ing.I have just fully shaved my hair down to 0.4 mm which is the lowest my new I-stubble will go. I can honestly say I am shocked at how different I look as I have wore a unit for the last 10 years which had loads of hair( even though it was fake). The scar from my HT looks ok and is nothing like some of the guy's on the forum have had to deal with.I can't wait for the next 3 weeks to pass and be happy with the results. Thanks guys for your support.Had my first treatment 22nd Feb, 2nd was 29th Feb and final one is 7th March 2012Posted 2 months ago # -
Hi All<div>I had my first treatment last Wednesday with Simon in the Birmingham clinic. Simon was great and was really patient and professional.</div><div>I had shaved my head the previous day with an R91 and Simon was happy to proceed. He then focused firstly on the hairline, my hairline was slightly noticeable from the hairs I transplanted 10 years ago. I wanted a soft but broken hairline as I would not suit the sharp look.</div><div></div><div>Once we had that sorted, Simon took numerous pictures for there files and I also got him to take some with my iPhone. Having worn a good unit for the last 10years, i did not like the way I looked and just wanted to crack on and get my Norwood 7 covered up.</div><div></div><div>The process itself took 3 hours, I took 2 Neurofen before the treatment started to help with the pain. The pain was bearable, but at the edges it was very painful as this is were the glue had sat for many years holding my unit on. the worst pain was definitely my strip scar- that hurt like hell. I did take a 5 minute break to grab a drink half way through.</div><div></div><div>Once we were finished with the treatment, my head was extremely red as can be seen on the pictures when I finally get them to publish. Simon was happy with it, I was focused on the following weeks treatment as I know from the forum to not get stressed about the first session as it is only the foundation.</div><div></div><div>I have been out in public, but i had a beanie on the whole time. I do not plan to se my friends and family till after my 3rd treatment. I then go ski-ing for a week with a couple of close friends which will be my big reveal.</div><div>I am nervous about showing people (shit scared more like). I know most of the guys have added hair due to them being shaved, but going from a full head of hair to a skin head looks really radical. I just need to be happy in myself and not care what others think or say.</div><div>I can't wait to wash and shave my head tomorrow morning as it does look far too long now.</div><div>hope this helps some of you?</div>

Hi All <div>Here are a couple more pictures including the scar, as you can see they are very red. I will send some more out tmrw once i have shaved as the redness has completely gone now.</div>

Sherwood - it looks great, and your going to be fine. The hardest part is getting used to a different look. it's more rugged for sure and I think after you look for a while your going to really love it. Having worn systems for years, nearly 30 to be exact - I had to really ponder this move. I think it's the mental part that is the trickiest. It used to slay me to see guys with a full head of hair wearing this look.. couldn't image what they were thinking.
The more I looked the more I noticed, these were confident very good looking guys, and it was a look that fit the lifestyle they lead. I can hang with that.. and man I gotta say it beats the hell out of the system, and the shitton of grief that goes with that. I think your new look is going to meet resoundingly positive responce. Mine has.

Hi Guy's
Thanks for your comments.Tesla- the scar was from a child hood accident, i like it, but I think I will have it filled in on Wednesday as a big part of my work is presenting to groups and I want to look professional in a suit and I think this gives a bit of a Mike Tyson look.Faster 1- I know we have been in a similar boat and I have followed your great posts and your 2nd paragraph really resonated with me- thanks! Can't wait for my second treatment on Wednesday, as I know it will really take shape.Had my first treatment 22nd Feb, 2nd was 29th Feb and final one is 7th March 2012Posted 2 months ago # -
Sherwood, just a quick note - It is common for clients to ask scars like yours (the one on your hairline) to be left visible. This is because many believe it makes your "hair" look more authentic.
Just my thoughts, but its personal preference

Looking good Sherwood! You must be soo relieved to have decreased the amount of time you need to take on the maintenance. And of course overjoyed with the work done by HIS! Keep us posted!

Thanks KJb- my 2nd treatment is tomorrow, so fingers crossed.
It does feel weird not having the unit on, I keep rubbing my head with pride now, not tapping it cause it itched a lot. I'm fortunate as I am off work for a few weeks, so I have been able to hide away till after my 3rd treatment. I will post some pictures in a couple of days when the redness has calmed.Had my first treatment 22nd Feb, 2nd was 29th Feb and final one is 7th March 2012Posted 2 months ago # -

Hi All
I had my 2nd treatment with Simon at the Harbourne clinic today. Everything went well, I was in the chair for 3.5hrs .I have now got more density and better coverage overall. It is still really red, so I will post my pictures up in a day or 2.I have to say the pain today hurt like hell at times, I felt like a right fanny! Anyone who said it doesn't hurt, you are the lucky ones. The pain was mainly around the edges of where my unit was stuck on for 10 years, the worst pain was over the scar and the blending of it. Simon was brilliant again, but at times I wanted to kill him today- thanks for your banter Simon, it got me through. Next week I will definitely take a couple of paracetamol.Had my first treatment 22nd Feb, 2nd was 29th Feb and final one is 7th March 2012Posted 2 months ago # -
which one is simon ?? the young fella who was on frank skinner or the middle aged chap??
Posted 2 months ago # -
LOL @ Sherwood about the pain.
It must be people who wear hair systems feel more pain because of the where the wig sat on the head, the parts where you put the glue on haven't healed fully before having treatment.
Sherwood I have been looking more and more at your pictures and I do thik its the style for me.
Make sure you put up a picture when it has calmed down and is normal looking so we can get a good look.
Excited for ya
T.

Hi Tudor- Paul ( has real hair) is the one from the Frank Skinner show with Aldemar. Simon is 40 yrs old and an inch short of 5ft 6' that's why his favourite actor is Tom Cruise lol ( only joking Simon). He has had 3 ht's before having Mht and looks really good now.
Tesla - I will def post pictures over the next couple of days. I have slightly dropped the hairline today, so will be interested in your feedback when I next post.Had my first treatment 22nd Feb, 2nd was 29th Feb and final one is 7th March 2012Posted 2 months ago # -
Sherwood, it looked great before, I am sure as it takes shape your going to have 0 regrets, although I am with Damon I would have left the scar. As for the pain - without a doubt the areas that hadn't been covered by my unit were hell by comparison to the healthy areas of my scalp. The front and temple areas are a bugger lol! But all well worth it in my opinion. Faced with the choice of doing this every year or going back to the system (Thankyou baby Jesus that is not the case lol) I would still rather do this.

Hi Faster1
The scar at the front is something me and my wife have debated a lot. It is a lot more pronounced now I have had the 2nd treatment, so I may just slim it down a bit. The only reason for losing it, is not to look a bit thuggish as I have to present in front of main board directors and I want to look as professional as possible. I will post some pics up later on and would value your opinion. My scar at the back is looking fantastic and has really made me feel better- again I will post some pics up later as theses really help the HT guys. After yesterday's session, I am now getting used to the look and dare I say- liking it. I am glad not to be wearing a unit, but also miss the fact that I could style my hair.I am still working out what to tell my friends and family as I believe when I do this, I will truly be able to move on.I had a look at your latest pics before and you look great. I'm sure when you look back at the pictures with your unit on, it already feels a bit strange?I go skiing in 10 days time, it's gonna be weird feeling the cold on my head. It will also feel good not to be worrying each time I take my helmet off, what my hair looks like!Freedom!Had my first treatment 22nd Feb, 2nd was 29th Feb and final one is 7th March 2012Posted 2 months ago # -
Hi All
The top of my head is still red after yesterdays 2nd treatment, so i will post some more pics tomorrow. I thought i would share a couple of pictures of my strip scar - 2 our before and 2 are after my second treatment, this is the area I have been most concerned about, but I'm sure you will agree that the results are great.Hope this helps the guys who have had a HT.Well worth the pain!!Had my first treatment 22nd Feb, 2nd was 29th Feb and final one is 7th March 2012Posted 2 months ago # -
