Hey guys,
Question for HIS & guys who have had the treatment about wet shaving
(4 posts) (3 voices)-
I just wanted to ask some people who have had the treatment (and maybe Damien can pipe in and find out from HIS) is there any reason not to shave with a Gillette cartridge razor or a Headblade daily? Does the pressure and exfoliation you get from that kind of shave affect the treatment at all?Only reason I ask is I've learned for me, the wet shave with the blade gives me the longest result. When I shave w/the R-91 it gets very close but my hairs on top grow out quickly requiring me to touch it up during the day if I want the look to be seamless. If there's any reason I shouldn't wet shave please tell me before I screw something up.I suffered from a form of scarring alopecia called Lichen Planopilaris. I had my first treatment with HIS on 11/28/2011 and it's changed my life for the better. LPP, I have been wet shaving, against the grain, with a Gillette razor every day since I had my treatment done back in May 2009. So close to a 1,000 shaves and the treatment looks fantastic.
You are right when you say that a daily wet shave with a razor gives the longest result. It takes me all of 4-5 minutes each day and very rarely I’d leave it 2 days before shaving, although I think I’ve only ever left it that long a handful of times.
Something interesting that I just found out last week was that my head appears more matte if I use shaving foam as opposed to shaving gel. Up until last week I used to use shaving gel and then accidentally picked up shaving foam in the supermarket.
I'd put that down to the shaving gel having some kind of moisturiser whereas the shaving foam does not. The shaving gel used to give a very slight shine to my head and the shaving foam is perfect and does not give off any shine.
I had my treatment done in May 2009 - I started a diary with my pictures, before and after, which you can see here: DIARY: My experience so far (with Pictures)

Thanks for the response Vince. That puts my mind at ease considering how long you've have the treatment and been shaving in that fashion.
I'm going to take your advice on the shaving foam too. It's definitely the way to go for me when it's going to be a long day. I'm at 22 hours post wet shave now and I still don't need to do any shaving touch up.This will come in handy on Xmas eve when I'll have a house full of Italian relatives all day and night. I won't have to worry about new growth all day. Good stuff.I suffered from a form of scarring alopecia called Lichen Planopilaris. Agree with Vince. No client of HIS has ever mentioned that this may be a problem. Nothing to worry about.
