So almost 4 years ago I had strip surgery to fill in the hair on my crown. It grew in less than desired but some took. But in the last few years I am seeing this hair loss spread to the top and front. I can still wear my hair long but ugh, I wish I could just shave my head.. too late for that now.. So I was looking at all my options. Having part of the scar revised (right side) and have any hairs taken out put into the scar.. Or not having it revised and getting maybe body hair FUE into it.. Or just going with MHT into the scar.. My scar is 4.5 inches long and keeps me up at night.. Just thinking that every day my hair gets a little thinner and thinking of how in the future I will have to keep my hair thicker on the back to cover the scar and being bald on top and the sides.. ugh. why was I so stupid..
My strip scar, what are youropinions on what I should do? see pics

Ok, I managed to compress them, here are the pics. Hi, Gordon ya I saw those photos browsing before and they are amazing. Did they match your skin color too or just add enough MHT hair dots to make it blend that well? I'm worried that I will just end up with MHT on a lighter skin colored scar and it will still stand out. That's why I'm considering scar reduction to reduce the amount of discolored skin. There are a few strip scars I've seen on this site that are so thin, makes me want to get the right side of mine revised. Just want to be smart about what I do now after being ugh.. an idiot before..

Stripsteak,I have an identical looking scar to yours, about exactly half the length. I never expose it. I wear my hair (what's left) to about 1cm length and put up with the bald jokes. Ikid myself that i'ma Norwood 3/4, but prob more 5/6. I had mine done in 1994 by Farjo in Mcr. I'm mid 40's now. The one thing that is stopping me going ahead with this procedure is if just one person says post treatment, "how did you get that scar?" then it will all have been worthless and I will have nowhere to go. I've had a consultation with Zang in Bham,a sincere fella and am impressed big time with the quality of service etc... It's a massive decision mate. Those of us who gave in to our 'vanity' have hard decisions to make about this treatment.

Stripsteak, just got your email, sorry looks like you beat me to it :)
MHT does not totally hide scars 100%, but it does make them much less visible, sometimes camouflaged up to 80%. I assume you've already seen this page?

Damien,
The first pic on the link http://www.hishairclinic.com/treatment/scar-coverage/ is the best closeup of a scar repair that I have seen. It is definitely is an improvement from having a visible scar, but does seem to have a blueish tint to it. Is this typical upon close inspection of scar work?
Seeing that few clients are willing to allow their pics to be put on display, would it not be a good idea to offer a discount for a number of scar repairs in exchange for pics that can be shown?Considering scar repair to fix the big smiley face on the back of my head from two HT's.

I think any blueish tint will be a trick of the camera, although it is fair to say that a tiny variance in colour can occur from time to time because scar tissue obviously looks different from normal skin.
Its like drawing on two different colours of paper and aiming for the same result. We get close, but the variance will always be a slight issue.

Sorry, only half answered your questions.
Discounts wouldnt work, purely because this isnt really about money. People prefer not to share their photos because they want to remain anonymous. They come to us with hair loss and leave without it. After their visit, most of our clients just want to put hair loss behind them, hence why they dont want their photos to be made available to the general public.

Hi Stipsteak
In all honesty if someone is going to be really looking for it they will see, but what it will do is allow you to go about your everyday life without folks say gee mate what happend to your head. in fact when i tell people now they think im joking with them, as for colour of the skin his done the punch holes and then matched around the scar over a three week period with 3 sessions.Im very pleased with the out come, are you in the uk? im in Bedfordshire if you ever wanted to see in real life
All the best
GordonPosted 4 months ago # -
Hi Damien, ya I managed to figure out that pic compression issue. And yes I've explored every inch of this website looking for strip repair pics. Many of the photos in the scars case study section don't show the scar repair on the donor site though?? Sup wit dat?
@ Gordon, no I'm in South Korea, thanks for the offer though! Over three weeks huh?
How did they space it out? Did they match your hair and MHT all your punch scars on day one or did they do a test patch? Then wait for it to fully heal, adjust color and tattoo again, etc. Then go in for the final? I'm interested to hear what they did for u, cuz yours looks great.Posted 3 months ago # -
There is a new scar-related case study you might want to see

Hi Stripsteak
The first session they did the punch holes and a little blending and waited a week to see how it took, the second week was more of the same and pretty much finished, and i had no fading or colour issues, the 3rd week was just a finish off and check all was ok, i guess ive been very lucky but i do trust these guys Damon was a real perfectionist, i called in many weeks later on my way past to cadburys world with the family, and he was so keen to make sure i was happy, and had a good inspection of me.
In my opimion it could not have made it worse, i like i said before when i tell people i had a ht years ago those that dont really know me dont believe me now lol. and they dont belive ive had this treatment done so i guess thats good in its selfalso i believe the longer your skin is exposed to the day light and normal sun the better, obviously using sun block on hot sunny days. my scalp looked very pale when i first shaved it, but that all changed after a few weeks
Gordon
Good luck mate, i am lucky as i only live 60 miles away

@Newdawnfades, have u looked into getting some fraxel work done on your scar? Yours is only half my length? So jealous! I only had 1000 hairs transplanted onto my crown but he cut me 4.5 inches..
Posted 3 months ago # -
@ Stripsteak, I had 200 minigrafts back in 1994. Over the years myself and my wife have removed the frontal grafts, with tweezers, but no,I have not really investigated fraxel. Would this not mean that I would have to expose the scar? I have not got the mental fortitude to do that I'm afraid, unless I could virtually go straight from fraxel to MHT.
Posted 3 months ago # -
Im pretty sure with fraxel laser they would just put some tape on your head to keep the hair off the scar and then they would laser the scar. When they are finished theyd just take the tape off and hide it once again. Its worth checking it out if after a few sessions it can bring your scar to a more normal skin color, then MHT after would look even better.
