So far I've gotten away with 4 days and my wife thought it looked nice. I personally to shave every day or two right now as I am (LOL) trying to learn how to shave my head without nicking it.
I would also mention that a few fellow forum members I met last friday as they decided what to do....first said I looked great and that was with four days of growth..(my hair may grow slowly I don't know) but then when the clinic technicians shaved my head for the 2nd service..the guys all thought or said that were watching..that it looked even better shaved...
Hence that also has something to do with why I prefer to shave every day or two.
I hope this helps..
Its two weeks since I started this journey and even though I trying to get over the flu...I've had two sessions and it looks awesome.
I couldn't be happier.

Okay! So you basically had some hair on top around the 4th day and it blended in nicely? I have dark hair. But when I razor/shave, my head looks light. I'd like for more a buzz cut, where my hair can be darker all around and blend in. Was that possible for you?

I think there are several case studies on here where the guys have buzzed cuts rather than shaved. I actually prefer the way the buzz look goes with MHT.

If you look at my blog post which I apologize goes off on crazy tangents...you'll see I had the horseshoe and a two finger wide band that went across the top midway on my scalp...and then I had some profuse thinning in the front three fingers space as well as a four finger sized bald spot on the crown..
I' hope I've explained it well enough...and all I can say is I was shaved down on monday morning before the HIS service and thursday night at 11 pm my wife said as I prepared to go in for the friday morning second service...that she liked the look of hair growth that evening best of all.
Interestingly enough as the days wore on...during the first week my wife kept telling me how nice it was as she got more and more used to it.. and subsequently my hair kept growing every single day of the first week because I thought I was told by the clinic technicians to do nothing with my head....
I hope this helps.. I have heard each case is different...but I can say that thursday of the second week.. as I was out and about...(which I believe was the fourth day) I got a lot of complements so again take this for what its worth...
Remember I did walk around with a big ass smile everyday (before getting the full blown flu on Sunday night) so for the most part I've been home bound and definitely not smiling as much because I feel like crap! LOL so no complements for the most part this week a) because I'm sick and b) because I really haven't gone out for the most part....although yesterday I went out for about an hour and I did manage to garner some nice complements but I have been shaving everyday since the three day no touch portion of the treatment period ended..

I agree! Buzz cuts seem more better to me. When I razor/shave my hair, I look completely bald (nothing wrong with being bald, I'm just not used it), because you can't see that my hair is dark. It looks too light. If I grow my hair just a TAD little bit, you start to see my color, which is where I wanna stay. If I'm able to have that little bit of length and have the MHT blend in, I'd be a happy camper.

If I ever get to get this done I plan on trying out different lengths and shave techniques to make it look the absolute best. I've never used the face shaver and plan on buying one just to try it out. I'm in a little more limited clique though on account of having a strip scar. So I may have to wear mine slightly closer, plus I don't have much left on top anymore. Time will tell..

Just so you guys know..originally I thought I liked the buzz look (with some hair growth) better but after having the service etc and living with it..I think the electric shaved look is best for me..
Either way I can shave everyday and look one way...then go a few day without shaving and look another way..
I think both are completely flexible ..but again it depends on each persons preference..
I think it also depends on what you tell the technician as he's doing subsequent (meaning second or third treatments)
I felt as if I liked the original first day hair line so we stayed with that, working mostly on the areas of the scalp in the second and then the third session next week where the scalp absorbs the ink slightly differently ..
Down the road if I want a darker look I guess I can always have that done at my own hourly rate cost...
funny my friend Jeff who I met along the way here was more into shading than a more defined look originally... ended up as the staged process moved along went for a more defined look... and I who originally wanted a darker more defined look originally now have a preference in the staged process for a softer less defined look..
I believe Jeff is a couple of years older than me...and if he read this and he's a couple of years younger...please accept my apologies..
All I can say...is planning ahead is great but the two or three stage process allows each individual to find their own comfort zone.. and look they prefer..
I do believe the first 12 months allows for some free work to manage any concerns.. to go darker or lower or whatever but don't quote me on that..because I don't remember exactly and don't want to state anything incorrectly to you my friends..
So like I said...4 days and the wifey likes that look the best..(her own words) Me? I like the shaved shaded look so thats pretty much what I'm doing. Down the road I may change my mind and I'll just let it grow three or four days..
More than that I don't know yet. I didn't try.

Thanks JB and Warrior! Great help! I think I may prefer the buzz cut. As I have had the razor/shaved look and it doesn't display my dark hair the way I want it.

Hi guys, what do you think about using a clipper with a #000 blade(0.02mm)? i think it can look good and can suit me fine...maybe the cut should be done almost every day to avoid excessive growth, but i think it's just that little bit of lenght more 1day was talking about...
(I havent' treatment and am waiting a couple of months to be all set!)
Thank you

1Day, without seeing any pictures it’s difficult to say. However if you have a high hairline and are confident that you’re not losing any more hair and really want a buzz cut look then have you possibly thought about getting FUE first to recreate your original hairline? Then getting MHT to fill in the rest to give you the density, that way you will be able to pull off the buzzed, or even slightly longer look without any problems.
I had my treatment done in May 2009 - I started a diary with my pictures, before and after, which you can see here: DIARY: My experience so far (with Pictures)

I haven't consider FUE yet. Just hoping I can do the MHT and allow it to grow just a "tad lil bit" where my hair show it's dark color and just leave it/cut it to that length each time.

fue then mht? you would have to win the lottery lol

Anyone here tried to get away with a buzz cut?
Posted 7 months ago # -
I can get away with about 2 days growth although I prefer the look after wet shaving every day, against the grain.
The vast majority of guys who can probably get away with a buzz cut are the ones who still have some of their original hairline intact of have diffusing thinning all over. Not sure what a buzz cut would look like on someone who is a NW6 or NW7.

Do you think a Norwood 3 could get away with it?
