Hi, after having a consultation and seriously considering going ahead with this treatment i would like to find an answer to a question that his hair does not seem to be able to give me a 100% answer on. I am currently a norwood 3 and would like to restore my hairline which obviously means lowering it, but all i would like to know is if i can use a grade 1 on the clippers instead of a 0 or a wet shave. The reason i ask is because i do not think the completely grade 0 bald look will suit me and i would prefer for some sort of stubble to still show. Another thing i worry about is that most people with hair will shave to a grade 1 but must people that are bald will go to a 0 and not the other way round. It would be much appreciated if anyone could advise me. Many thanks

Hairlover, here is my opinion on this subject and this is strictly my opinion and not something I know for sure, etc. Matt, the clinic manager in NYC (who in my opinion has one of the best MHT's I have yet to see) uses a grade 0 clipper but he told us that he doesn't shave every day and thus it shows a little growth and it looked like a #1 on the clipper scale. It looked great but he also advised that he has a good level of hair still left and this is why he can get away with it but in the long run, as he will lose hair (he is still very young) he will need to most likely shave everyday. I would highly recommend if and when you get the procedure done, that can be something you can test and play with. I think the first step is to get the procedure done/ completed and once that's done, you can always adjust levels of grade on the clipper scale as you wish. Again, just my humble opinion and I hope it was helpful

I think you hit the question spot on Nvr2late, it all depends on how much hair you have left and if it looks natural

Thanks for your reply Nvr2late. Does this guy matt have any pics on here? Also i agree with what you say but i find it a bit of a risk to just go for it and hope that i can have a grade 1. Is there any body on here who has a grade 1 and thinks that it blends in well? The reason i ask is because i do have my hair but the procedure will be in front of the hair i have and i cant see it blending (i may be wrong) anyway thanks for your response

You will be able to get away with a grade 1 'if' you still have a bit of hair at the front still poking though, If you don’t have any existing hairline at the front whatsoever, then no you will most likely have to go for a grade 0.... I still have a bit of a hairline so i can still get away with a grade 1... Obviously as i lose more hair, i will have to go for a grade 0 a few years down the line

Thanks danny boy, i want my hairline lowered as my hairline is now quite high up on my forhead! so i do not have hair there. Have you had the procedure done would you mind sending me a pic if possible. I spose there isnt too much in it between a 0 and a 1. Im really undecided as i feel a grade 1 looks so much better than a 0, perhaps im being too paranoid lol

i have the same concern. don't know your type of hair, but whem i'm looking at Matt's Case Study, I can't help but be convinced. I have almost the same receiding hairline and his was was lowered quite a bit compared to where the scar is.

hi magic, where can i see matts case study?

Still a bit up in the air about getting it done as i only want a buzzed look as my hair is very fair and i think it wont look too good with it at a grade 0. Even with a skinhead grade 1 my scalp shows through as being very light.
