Hey All,

It's been a while since I posted here.

I'm still on my journey to a camouflaged scar after quite a long time.

My question is:

Can fraxel still be done after multiple SMP treatments?

my scar is ridgy and very unappealing (especially under certain lighting)

Thanks

Yes I believe it can without impacting the smp.

I think the 1550 is used

There are a few posts on the forum about it I think landlord1 had it done

Good memory. Yes, I did. I would highly recommend the fraxel treatment even after smp. You could fade some but well worth the outcome.

Hi Landlord, thanks for the reply.

Did you notice any fading?

What benefits did you notice?

Fraxel helps to break down the scar tissue and promote the production of collagen in the skin

It therefore makes the skin soften and smoother

It made the whole area smoother. The scars are still there but greatly improved. It did fade a small amount and I had it touched up but it needed touching up in other areas also that didn't receive fraxel.

Just replied to Oscar on a PM with info worth sharing here... The impact of fraxel on scar SMP should be minimal.

When you say minimal do you mean the fading will be minimal? Is fraxel recommended and has anybody used it and have before/after pictures?

Yes, I was talking about fading. The recommendation with regards to SMP is that you should allow 28 days after treatment before commencing a course of fraxel. So basically, once it has been given time to heal.

Thanks for all of your help Ed.

Landlord1, how many Fraxel treatments did you receive? If more than one, did you notice fading after the first, or did it fade mostly over 3-4 sessions?

I've contacted a few local clinics that offer fractional laser therapy. All agree that fractional laser would smooth out and tighten my scar. If the biggest/only issue to expect is fading, then it sounds like it's worthwhile

How long after a Fraxel session do you see results in the scar? Is it almost immediate or does it take some time?

Also how long after Fraxel treatment would you recommend getting a touch up?

Ed informed me of the following:

"The advice is that you would need to wait 6 weeks after fraxel to have SMP, and 28 days after SMP to have fraxel."

I had a total of 3 done, 4 weeks apart, the best I can remember. I only noticed a small amount of fading after the third. The third was the most intense treatment. It's done a little deeper each time.

This is a good read, I can only get one done atm so I'll go with SMP first and possibly Fraxel in the future.
