Our community blogs

  1. As some of you may have noticed, we are putting steps in place to improve the quality of the before and after photographs on our website. As a business that has always aimed to be as honest as possible about what we can and cannot achieve, the purpose of this exercise is to show as accurately as possible what our clients can expect their treatments to look like in the real world.

    What are the issues?

Although this process should be straightforward, this project poses a few very real challenges, as follows:

    • Most of our photographs are taken immediately after a treatment session. Thats why the treatments you see in our gallery and case studies section often look over-defined, the dots look too big and the skin appears red or pink. The treatment simply hasn't had time to settle
    • When photographs are taken before and after each treatment session, quite often each shot will have been taken by a different practitioner in a different room from a different angle under different lighting conditions, and often with a different camera. Trying therefore to make all our photos appear in a uniform fashion is almost impossible
    • Our practitioners are not professional photographers
    • Artificial lighting used in our clinics (and most offices, homes etc) are not conducive to great photos
    • Often the client lives too far from a clinic to return at a later date for retrospective photographs showing how the treatment looks when it has settled
    • We are limited to how much we can edit our photos to compensate for any inconsistencies, as manipulation of any after shot is strictly against our code of ethics

    How about an example?

One key issue is varying lighting conditions - i.e a photo taken at 9am will always look different from one taken at 3pm, even when the photo is taken indoors. The following shots highlight the issue:

    gallery_159268_16_11143.jpg

The photo on the right shows considerably more detail than the photo on the left, purely due to differing lighting conditions

    So what is the solution?

Clearly having great after shots of our work, showing as much detail as possible, is important to our clients so that they may gain an accurate idea of what MHT is actually capable of achieving. High quality photographs are also important to HIS from a business point of view for obvious reasons. We are therefore undertaking a number of changes as follows:

    • We offered an incentive for our clients to return to their nearest clinic for photos, in return for a free touch-up session. Details here
    • We are incorporating a number of guidelines to all our practitioners, in an attempt to standardise our photos. Hopefully this should result in more photos being taken in similar lighting conditions, from the same angles etc
    • We are in the process of extracting still photos from some of our high definition videos
    • Our photographer Andrew Bainbridge will be taking a greater proportion of our before and after photos. To date Andrew has produced all our videos and all our modelling shots, but only a small proportion of our after photos. This should result in a vast improvement
    • We are looking at ways that some of the photos on this forum could be incorporated into our gallery and case studies (with the clients permission of course). This is work in progress.

As you can see, we are putting a few changes in place which should make a difference, however please bear in mind that these changes will take some time to be noticed by our site visitors and forum members. We will keep you all updated.

    Regards

    Damien

The whole idea of the case study photo is to get people who have had the treatment done for a while to have their photo taken so HIS can update their Case Study Section on the website because all the "After photos" are all taken straight after and this means that the SMP is still red, so HIS want settled After Photos, In return you get a 2 hour treatment to take whenever you like. They do not specify if you have to be chosen or not, so......I thought that having a 2 hour treatment in the bag would be good to have and also I do want to help people who are on the fence about this treatment.

I have plug scars and they don't have too many plug scar examples.

I have gone for the high hairline receded look and also it is a light pigment.

I was a little disappointed that my picture was to be taken with the small camera they use for their customer files, I did think that there was gong to be a professional Photographer taking the shots. If I had know this I could have brought my backdrop Flash lights and my DSLR. I am not blaming Damon he didn't know why I was there. A bit of communication would have been good here as I came in from Reading especially and took a half a day off work.

Damon and I had a laugh anyway. He took some photo's but I or Damon have no idea what is going to happen to them whether they are going to be used in the case studies or not, or whether I will get a 2hr treatment in the bag for my troubles.

I also thought that I would be taking to a person about my earlier before shots as I do have a few all taken with a DSLR, ( with hair, shaven) different than my Diary.

    I would like to know...

hi all, i am obviously considering going for this treatment. i have read lots of comments in the forum so wont ask the same old common questions. But is there anyone out there who used to have hair units and has had this treatment done. Are you happy with the results. Cos it would be a different experience, as the units these days look very real. So you would be going from the full head of hair look to the short look. The main reason i am considering this, is the freedom not to rely on those damm units. I just want to know how did that experince feel, and are you happy with the change.

    Hello everyone,

I'm 33 years old from Italy.

I have been suffering from baldness since my twenties.

I am particurally interested in MHT.

having said that I think the company is overlooking something really important in the way they design the hairlines.

I see that the vast majority of treatments show a sharp , very defined, too straight to be true, hairline.

I wonder if this is the clients choice or the only way hairlines can be designed using MHT technique.

I believe this is a deal breaker for thousands of people potentially interested in this treatment. The hair tranplant business has experienced the very same problem in the 80's. Hairlines used to be too straight and baby dool like.

Now the best surgeons prefer a zig zag like effect that mimics the way hair really grow in 90% of people's head.

I would like to invite all clients that have gone for a more ragged look to post their pics in this thread. I think this is the main cause of concern for many.

Overall the treatment looks brilliant. So far I have seen very few hairlines that look ''real''. I also read that the company ha recently started to take notice of this problem and is currently trying to address it. I would love to know more about this from moderator and other forum members.

thank you very much for your time and attention,

I recently had my first two sessions (July 12 &19) with Zang at the Los Angeles location HIS.

Such an incredible experience and I only wish I would have chosen HIS from the beginning.

I actually decided to go to a different company for my first session (plus one follow up visit). Probably the largest competitor HIS has here in the states, they are based in the northern mid-west and I'll just refer to them as GL.

At the time, April 2010, I believe HIS only had a New York location and not a large presence, and or reputation in the United States. GL had a very strong marketing presence and their location was much closer and more convenient for me. My experience there was fine; people where very nice and accommodating, but in hindsight the experience completely pails in comparison to my HIS experience with Zang.

Zang understands the process, because he has experienced it himself. He also listens, is EXTEMELY THOROUGH and DILIGENT, and understands that you are there to get results. Unlike my previous experience elsewhere, where it seemed they wanted to make sure I would have to schedule further appointments.

It has been two weeks since my last session and I couldn't be happier with my results and I give HIS my absolute highest recommendation! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via this blog. I can also give you hotel and restaurant recommendations to make your stay as comfortable and efficient as possible.

If anyone is more interested as to why my experience with GL was different to HIS, let me know. I would be more than happy to go into further detail.

I also plan to write about my whole hair loss/hair loss compensation journey in future blog posts. Trust me when I say I have experienced it all... because I have ;)

    Greetings,

I just had my first procedure done yesterday and my second is scheduled a week from today. I notice that the dots are very red and big to the point that its very obvious. Now I'm not expecting the best results right away but my concern is more in the lines of how long will it take for the dots to shrink and get less red. Is there anything I can do to help it heal faster? I have to go back to work by the time I'm on my 4th day and I feel that if it looks like it looks today, I may have to call out. Now I am also concerned as to whether I should wait a little more time before I go for my 2nd treatment since I don't want to have to wait for it to heal all over again. Please Advise

Just wanted to thank HIS clinic in L.A and Nate for going out of their way to assure my satisfaction with smp and are still working with me to reach and meet my expectations. I still have a few sessions left and I believe my smp will be complete and I will be uploading pics on completion.

For anyone who is still not sure about this treatment I would highly advise you to go through it , this is a big step forward not backwards. You will only look and feel better , at first this is a big shock but I can honestly say this is probably the best decision I've ever made .

Thanks again , pics will be coming soon!

Its been a while since I've been on the forum/blog, but I felt it only fitting as I just got back from my two year touch up with Zang in LA. As always I was pleasantly greeted upon my arrival by the HIS staff. As I walked in I was given compliments by the staff on how well my treatment looked. Little did these people know it was already two years old. So let me start there. After being a Norwood 7 for pretty much all of my mid to late twenties and having just 3 previous sessions done I cannot express how happy I am that I made the decision to get the treatment and get on with enjoying my life. I am still AMAZED at how great my treatment looks after two years. I still til this day get compliments, questions, admiration, and looks at my hairline. In the two years I have had my treatment I have had such a boost in confidence. I've meet my future wife, been promoted several times in my job, and have not put on a hat unless I've been cold or attended a sports function. My only regret is that I didn't get this treatment done sooner. So you may be wondering why I went back for a touch up. For two reasons; 1. It was a personal preference not a need and 2. I had not taken the advice of the forum/staff and protected my head from the sun as I should (1 degree burns to my scalp from a trip to Mexico). Now let me clarify, that although I had burned the top of my scalp and was stuck inside for two days due to burns over my entire body, my treatment still looked damn good! But I had noticed some lightening on the crown. So after a one and a half hour touch up, some good conversation with the ever so talented, spectacular, and dashing Zang, and a little bit of pain I'm looking fresher than ever. Maybe now I'll wear a hat when I'm in the Mexico sun too..or at least some sun block.

Thank you HIS for everything!! I could not have asked for a more professional, courteous, and caring group of people. You are the standard in SMP!! You set the bar!!

Hello all, I would like to say thank you to the HISHAIR staff... What a great company, they put the clients first. Ian and Ranbar who developed and market this fabulous innovative product. The procedures have changed my life....Confidence is at an all time high! So many companies make promises, but when a problem arises and the customer contacts them they don't support the customer. So many people ask where I get my hair cut and or lined as they say. They don't have a clue, because it looks as if the head has a very cleaned shave, I love it!!!!!

    Thank you Ian and Ranbar
